French Lesson Breakdown

  • “main”: « principal »

Keep in mind that it’s an adjective. So, it needs to be matched in terms of gender and number with the noun « objectif », which is masculine. There are two nouns in the sentence, you might incorrectly think that « réunion » is the main noun.

However, « objectif » is the noun that is linked to the adjective « principal », they go together, so they need to be matched in gender and number. The feminine of « principal » is « principale ».

  • “today”: « aujourd’hui. “todays”: « d’aujourd’hui »

The “s” is the expression of possession in English, and it is very specific to English. It has to be rendered in French with « de », as usual, the genitive, expressing ownership/origin: « d’aujourd’hui ».

  • “What is?: « Quel est ? » or “Which is ?”: « Quel est ? »
  • “a meeting”: « une réunion » or « un meeting »
