“a root cause analysis” (RCA): « une analyse de cause racine » (ACR)

“We need to specify the root cause of last week’s accident.”

« Nous devons préciser la cause racine de l’accident de la semaine dernière. »

“a root cause analysis”: « une analyse de cause racine ».

This is exactly the same words but reversed. You will need this a lot, especially in a factory.

“analysis”: « une analyse »

“a cause”: « une cause »

“a root”: « une racine »

“a root cause analysis”: « une analyse de cause racine »

Even the acronym is reverted – “RCA” becomes « ACR ».

The chart is called « un arbre des causes ». Literally “a tree of causes”, so the decision tree.

“to need”: « devoir »

Root Cause Analysis French Lesson

This is an external obligation, you have to do this by law, you have to determine the cause of each accident.

“an accident”: « un accident »

It’s transparent because it comes from Latin. Again, you don’t need to know Latin, but it helps to be able to determine whether a word in English or French or both might have a Latin root, because it’s going to be similar in both languages.

“last week”: « la semaine dernière »

“a week”: « une semaine »

“last”: « dernier » (masculine)/« dernière » (feminine).

“last week”: « la semaine dernière ».

Here is the full sentence again:

“We need to specify the root cause of last week’s accident.”

« Nous devons préciser la cause racine de l’accident de la semaine dernière. »
